  19. Over the last two years, the attendance at Internet Engineering Task
  20. Force (IETF) Plenary meetings has grown phenomenally.  Approximately
  21. 38% of the attendees are new to the IETF at each meeting.  About 33%
  22. of those go on to become regular attendees.
  23.  
  24. The purpose of this For Your Information (FYI) RFC is to explain to
  25. the newcomers how the IETF works.  This memo also provides the mundane
  26. bits of information which everyone who attends an IETF meeting should
  27. know.  This FYI RFC is a product of the IETF Secretariat and the User
  28. Services Area.

  30. This memo provides information for the Internet community.  It does
  31. not specify an Internet standard.  Distribution of this memo is
  32. unlimited.

  34. This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list.
  35. Requests to be added to or deleted from the IETF distribution list
  36. should be sent to IETF-REQUEST@CNRI.RESTON.VA.US.  Requests to be added
